Paayalia Part 1 – Advanced Course, Thurs 8:10pm, Apr 25 – Jun 13 [Pre-approval required]

Paayaliya chhan chhan, chhan chhan shor kare mohe piya ghar jaaun // The anklet sings chhan chhan chhan chhan, says she wants to go to my beloved’s home.

Advanced-level dancers we are diving deep into the iconic song Paayaliya from ‘Dev D’ the 2009 Devdas reimagining. This is a complex neo-semiclassical group choreography which will be continued in Term 2, mixing classical western, ballet, folk, and classical Indian with a seamless groove and flow throughout. • Studio Location: Level 4, 420 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley (entry via Berwick St, doors are next to the Institute of Modern Art, buzz us at ‘ADC studio’ for entry)
• Parking: Street parking is free after 7 pm. Some free parking is available at 421 Brunswick St (entry via Ivory St), check the signs.
• Capacity: Minimum numbers are 7 for the class, maximum of 40.
• Perform! Dancers can join 2024 performance opportunities and each final choreographies will be filmed! An extra cost may be incurred if professional filming is done.

• Please note: Director pre-approval is required to join this class. Strong foundation of Dance Masala Advanced Beginner techniques (including Advanced Beginner waacking; all footworks; technical classical terms; body awareness and good choreographic pickup) expected or equivalent 4+ years of dance training.If you are new, please email is with your dance video to hello @ dancemasala . com . au (no spaces). • T&Cs: Student will receive all recordings and tutorials throughout the course, there are no refunds, credits or make-up classes if a student misses the class, if Dance Masala has to cancel a class, a makeup class will be offered, or alternate instructor will be used. If a student buys a place in a sold-out class, it is for ONLINE ONLY and a place in the waitlist. No refunds will be offered for misunderstanding this. You cannot transfer this class to another person.
